Everything you need to know about taking luggage onboard our coaches

How much luggage can I take?

When you arrive, our driver will help you to load your luggage onto the coach. Please note all luggage is subject to our Conditions of Carriage

UK Luggage

Two medium-sized suitcases or rucksacks and one small piece of soft hand luggage per adult travelling, free of charge. In this context, hand luggage means something that is capable of being stored safely in the overhead rack or beneath the seat. With the exception of brief cases, no hard-shelled cases, wheelie bags or hard-framed rucksacks/back packs will be allowed on board.

Your two pieces of luggage must not exceed 20kg each, with no side longer than 85cm. Items of luggage in excess of 20kg will be charged.

European Luggage

One medium-sized suitcases or rucksacks and one small piece of soft hand luggage per person travelling, free of charge.

Your one piece of luggage must not exceed 20kg, with no side longer than 85cm. Items of luggage in excess of 20kg will be charged.

Preparing your luggage

Lengthy luggage policies can be confusing. Here's our quick guide to making sure your luggage is good to go.

  • Weigh it - you can take two medium-sized suitcases (each weighing no more than 20kg) on your coach, plus a small piece of hand luggage.
  • Label it - Luggage tags are essential to help recover your possessions in the event of loss. Secure luggage tags with your full name and address, then secure them to each luggage item before boarding your coach.
  • Secure it - Even though your luggage will be stowed in our secure luggage holds, it's always worth taking an extra moment to make sure your luggage is securely locked before boarding your coach.

It's also important to make sure that your luggage does not contain any items that are, for customer safety, not allowed onboard.

Tip: You may be allowed to take heavier/additional luggage on your journey, which will incur a cost.

Can I take extra luggage?

If you need to take extra luggage on your journey, this can be arranged when you arrive at the coach station, however we recommend booking in advance. Simply select the extra luggage option on the Add Extras page when booking your coach ticket.

How much luggage you'd like to take, and whether or not you'll need extra for both legs of your journey, will determine the price you pay.

Extra luggage is currently only available on UK journeys.

Can I leave my luggage in the coach station?

We have facilities for you to store your luggage at the following coach stations:

  • London Victoria Coach Station
  • Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station
  • Edinburgh Bus Station

Lost property

Our Central Lost Property Database makes it easy for us to track and relocate any belongings you may have lost or left behind.

As our lost property tracking system costs a lot to upkeep, in addition to the cost of reuniting your items, we charge customers a reasonable fee when items are reclaimed:

If you have lost or left an item behind, contact our Lost Property Team.

Luggage Tips

We'd always advise booking your extra luggage in advance online, as you'll always pay the lowest possible price. If you arrange your extra luggage on the day you travel, you can pay your coach driver or the station staff directly.

If you're booking online for more than one person, our booking system will apply extra luggage fees for all passengers in your group. If only one person in your group needs to take extra luggage, we'd advise booking separately.

We accept lightweight manual wheelchairs for travel, subject to them being capable of being stowed in the coach's luggage hold. We regret that we are unable to accept manual wheelchairs that weigh more than 20kg.

Mobility scooters can also be stowed, but please check with our Disabled Persons' Travel Helpline on: 08717 71 71 79 before travelling. Calls cost 10p per minute (plus network charges).

We have a growing number of fully-accessible coaches. Pre-booking is required to ensure that the wheelchair type is capable of being fully and safely secured on the coach.

What items are banned from travel?

For the safety of all our customers, there are some items not allowed on-board our coaches:

  • Any weapons or explosives
  • Drugs (other than medicines) or solvents
  • Non-folding pushchairs/prams
  • Oversized sports equipment
  • Bicycles which aren't folded, dismantled or wrapped
  • Any pets, other than assistance dogs
  • Any items which we deem unsafe or are not properly sealed/secured or perishable items
