Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16 or over or they will be refused travel. Proof of age may be required.

One infant aged 0-2 travels free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Additional infants aged 0-2 must be paid for. If you are travelling with more than 1 infant aged 0-2, please book the additional infant as 'Children (3-15).

We do everything we can to make your journey as smooth as possible from start to finish, and that includes buying and using your ticket. However, we know sometimes plans can change and you may need some more advice. 

Whether it's a one-way (single), return or open return journey, below you'll find information about our different fares so you can know which is right for your circumstances. Don't forget, you can always contact us for any other issues you may have.

Our Fares

  Restricted Fare

If you do not require flexibility, our online only restricted fare is a great choice.

 

  No refund or cancellation
  You cannot make any changes. A new ticket will need to be purchased if your plans change
  You cannot use other discounts or coachcards with this fare

  Standard Fare

If you need some flexibility, then our standard fare is a great option for you.

 

  No refund or cancellation
  You can make changes to your booking for an additional fee from £5
  You can use a coachcard or other discounts with this fare

  Fully Flexible Fare

If you're looking for complete peace of mind, choose our fully flexible fare.

 

  Full refund and cancellation if you cannot travel
  You can make changes to your booking without a fee
  You can use a coachcard or other discount with this fare

Terms and conditions

Restricted fare - not amendable and not refundable

  • This fare is not refundable.
  • No amendments can be made to any part of the ticket.
  • No further discounts permitted. No Coachcard discounts are applicable on this fare type.
  • This ticket is only valid to and from the destinations as specified on your ticket. You may not travel to/from another location on this ticket. Attempting to board or alight at a destination not specified on your ticket is not permitted.
  • You must travel on the timed journey you are booked on.

Standard fare - amendable and not refundable

  • This fare is not refundable but the journey date and time can be changed prior to the current departure date and time.
  • Amendments must be made prior to the journey (whether outbound or return) by visiting www.nationalexpress.com/myticket, visiting a National Express Travel shop, National Express Agent or by calling 03717 818181*.
  • An amendment fee will apply so please have your credit/debit card details to hand (you may also pay cash in a ticket office).
  • An excess fare will also be charged, where a higher fare applies to the requested amendment. *Lines are open between 0800 - 2200, 7 days a week.

Fully flexible fare - amendable and refundable

  • Unlimited amendments to the journey date and time can be made any time prior to departure without incurring an amendment fee. Journey amendments can be made to tickets prior to travel by visiting www.nationalexpress.com/myticket, visiting a National Express Travel shop or National Express Agent or by calling 03717 818181*.
  • Refunds can be made up to 72 hours prior to the departure of the outward journey, however some extra products may not be refundable (i.e. travel insurance beyond its 14 day cooling-off period).
  • We cannot offer refunds on part-used tickets.
  • To cancel your ticket and obtain your cancellation reference please call us on 03717 818181, *lines are open between 0800 - 2200, 7 days a week.

Discounted fare types

The price of your ticket is dependent on when you're looking to travel, your age, who you're travelling with and how far in advance you book.

Our discounted fare types include:

  • Child Fare - A child fare is half the price of either a Standard or Fully Flexible adult fare. This applies to children aged between 3 and 15. Children aged 2 years or younger travel for free (one free child under two years with one fare-paying adult).
  • Infant ticket - One Infant/baby aged 0-2 travels for free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Additional infants aged 0-2 must be paid for. If you are travelling with more than 1 infant aged 0-2, please book the additional infant as 'Children (3-15)'.
  • Group Airport Travel - Travel between London's four major airports for just £20 each one-way, when you travel in a group of three or more. The discount will automatically apply at checkout.

Season tickets

Tired of standing on the daily commute to work? Find out how switching your journey to coach could save you a train-induced headache. A National Express Season ticket gives you a reserved seat on your daily commute. It's a great way to save some money when you make the same journey more than three or four times a week.

Simply choose the two locations you travel between most, purchase a Season ticket, choose from 1 month to 1 year validity and get unlimited travel in both directions.

Multiride tickets

In need of some flexibility when commuting or travelling or just can't commit to the same departure time daily? A National Express Multiride ticket offers 10 single journeys between your two locations, valid for 3 months.

Buying a Multiride

Choose the two locations you travel between, we'll add them and provide you with a price by completing this simple form. To purchase your Multiride ticket pop into a National Express Coach Station or call Customer Services on 08717 818181, lines open 7 days a week, 10am - 6pm (calls to this number cost 13p per minute plus your telephone company’s access charge).

Reserving a seat

Turn up and ride (subject to seat availability) on our services or book a specific service via our National Express Travelshops. Giving you the flexibility to travel exactly when you want on our scheduled network services.

Please note a booking fee will apply, via customer services an additional postage fee will apply.
