Work-life balance & wellbeing

Health & wellbeing

Discover how you can improve your lifestyle as a National Express employee. Being healthier is simply about making small changes to your lifestyle to make you feel good, support your family better and achieve your aims in life.

At National Express we have a Health and Wellbeing approach that focuses on 3 main areas:

Mental Health (#nxgettalking)

We all have mental health, and just as our physical health fluctuates, so will our mental health. You don't need to have a mental illness to make your mental health a priority.

Physical Health (#nxgetmoving)

Improving your physical health is all about making small changes to your lifestyle to make your body feel and work better.

Eating better, sitting less and moving more are the three key steps to improving your physical health.

Lifestyle (#nxgetbalanced)

Your overall wellbeing can be hugely influenced by the decisions that you make in your day-to-day life.

Your social interactions within both work and home relationships, financial decisions, lifestyle decisions and habits that you have, impact hugely on your wellbeing.

'Let's Talk About Mental Wellbeing' Toolkits

Want to talk about mental health but don't know how?

Communication is key when it comes to mental health, we need to ensure that everyone at National Express feels that they are supported and they can open up about how they feel and about their mental health. It is important that everyone feels that they can speak about their concerns without fear of judgement. We have Wellbeing Conversation Guidance Toolkits for all employees and people managers. These toolkits aim to support you in spotting the signs of poor mental health, initiate conversations with colleagues and help you feel able to signpost your colleagues to appropriate avenues of support.

If you have a story to tell or advice you'd like to share we would love to hear from you! Please contact us via our health and wellbeing email address wellbeing@nationalexpress.com so we can talk about how you can share your insights in a way that is comfortable for you. Sharing your experiences might be the cause for someone to seek support and advice on their own mental health.

Remember, every conversation counts, even a small conversation with someone can make a huge difference to how they feel. You don't need to have all the answers and you are not expected to be a counsellor. A listening ear is sometimes the best thing you can provide to someone to help them feel they are not alone.

Let's get NX talking.

The Mood Circle

We all know when we're having good days and bad days, but how much do we know about managing these thoughts and feelings?
