How to book a coach ticket

Booking great-value coach fares with us is simple and easy using our journey planner to the left of this page. Whether you're planning ahead and looking to buy a ticket in advance, or looking to travel on the day, below is all the information you need to make sure you book the right ticket for your journey.

How to book a ticket

Use our journey planner to enter where you're going from and to, the date and time you wish to travel and how many people will be travelling and whether you're looking to buy a single or return ticket.

Then, don't forget to check the box if you have one of our Coachcards or add your promotion or voucher code by clicking on the 'i' in the journey planner.

Once you've entered all your details, click See Tickets and Prices and we'll display the ticket prices available for the dates you've requested, then simply select the best time and fare, that suits you.

If you'd like to book an open return ticket then select return and then open return, during the booking process. To book your return journey, just call our contact centre who'll be happy to book you on the next available service.

You can also book a ticket through our Customer Contact Centre on 08717 81 81 81 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras), by visiting one of our travel shops or use our mobile site to book direct from your mobile and receive an m-Ticket by text. And now you can buy tickets from your local Post Office branch.

Disabled travellers

If you require assistance for boarding our coaches, then please call us at least 36 hours before you are due to travel on 03717818181 (0044 3717 818181 from overseas) to allow us to arrange your assistance.

Stop finder

We travel to 100's of UK towns, cities and airports, however, we don't expect you to know all of the places we go to. Which is why we've created our Stop Finder tool, a simple and easy way to see all of the destinations we travel to and the stops closest to you.

Ticket types

If you're looking for a really great deal, then use our Cheap Fare Finder for our lowest fares available online. These fares are limited and tickets need to be booked in advance, so when they're gone they're gone. Unfortunately, Coachcard discounts can't be applied to FunFares.

Here are our most popular ticket types:

FunFare tickets: Our FunFare tickets are our lowest fares available online. We only ever have a limited amount of tickets available at certain prices, so when they're gone they're gone. FunFares are only available to book online. You're able to amend the date or time of travel, however, all FunFares are non refundable. Please note there is a charge for amending your ticket.

Amendable and refundable tickets: This is our most flexible ticket, which allows you to have a full refund up to 72 hours before travel (excludes booking fee), and you can amend your ticket at anytime.

Take a look at the other ticket types available.

Ticket amendments and refunds

FunFare tickets are amendable but not refundable. If you wish to amend your ticket before travel you'll be charged up to the current fare for the new journey plus an admin fee.

Any refunds made on all ticket types will be charged an administration fee.

Please note, that your ticket is only valid for the times and dates stated on your ticket. If you wish to travel on an earlier or later service, this may incur an excess fee as well as an administration fee being charged.

If you're looking to purchase an open return ticket, then please be aware you must confirm your return travel date and time with our Customer Contact Centre before travel. The return date must be within three months of the outward journey date.

Open return tickets

If you're looking to take a spontaneous weekend away or if you're just not sure on how long your trip will last, then an open return ticket is the perfect ticket option. Simply book an open return journey using the journey planner stating your outward journey, then when you have decided on your return date, visit the My Ticket area where you can book your return journey free of charge or call us on 08717 818181 (calls cost 10p per minute plus network extras) and we'll be happy to arrange this for you.

We offer a generous luggage allowance so you don't have to worry about travelling extra light. You can take two medium sized suitcases or rucksacks (no more than 20kg per item) and one small piece of soft hand luggage, free of charge. In addition, we also help you load your luggage onto the coach.

However, if you do want to travel with more luggage then take advantage of our excess luggage policy and travel with exactly what you need. Excess luggage standard on the day prices are as follows:

  • Travel with extra bags for £10 each one-way or £15 each return

Alternatively, if you're travelling on selected routes, then you can book excess luggage at a discounted rate in advance, online when you book your coach ticket:

  • Travel with one bag for £8 one-way, £12 return (a saving of 20%) or up to three bags for £16 one-way, £24 return (a saving of over 45%)
