Children under 14 years of age are not permitted to travel without being accompanied throughout the journey by a responsible person aged 16 years or over.
Children aged 14 - 15 years old may travel unaccompanied, as from 5am, arriving at their booked destination no later than 10pm. Unaccompanied children will be asked for proof of age or a signed letter of permission from their parent/guardian. (sms or chat based messages are not permissible)

One infant aged 0-2 travels free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Additional infants aged 0-2 must be paid for. If you are travelling with more than 1 infant aged 0-2, please book the additional infant as 'Children (3-15).

  1. THE PROMOTER

The promoter of the post journey market research survey and associated prize draw is NATIONAL EXPRESS LIMITED of National Express House, Birmingham Coach Station, Mill Lane, Digbeth, Birmingham, England B5 6DD (“National Express”, “we”, or “our”).

 

  1. THE POST JOURNEY MARKET RESEARCH SURVEY
  1. The customer post journey market research survey (“Survey”) is available to passengers aged 18 years or over who have travelled on a service provided by National Express and/or one of its group companies and provided an email address at the point of purchase of their ticket.
  2. Following completion of your journey, National Express may send a link to the Survey to the email address provided by you at the point of purchase of your ticket.
  3. You must not post any content that is unlawful, offensive, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others.
  4. All materials in the Survey, including but not limited to text and logos, are the property of National Express, and National Express and its licensees reserve their respective intellectual property rights in such materials.
  5. The customer acknowledges that National Express is conducting the Survey for market research purposes.

 

  1. THE PRIZE DRAW
  1. The title of the prize draw is “Post Journey Market Research Survey Prize Draw”.
  2. This is a monthly prize draw open to those passengers who meet the eligibility criteria set out in clause 5 and who have completed the Survey. Entrants will have a chance to win a GBP £100 Amazon voucher.

 

  1. HOW TO ENTER
  1. The Post Journey Market Survey Prize Draw will run for each calendar month, starting from the 1st May until the last day of the same calendar month. The Prize draws will run for 3 consecutive months and close on the 31st July 2025.
  2. To enter the prize draw, you must complete the Survey and confirm that you wish to enter that month’s prize draw within one week of National Express sending the link to the Survey. 
  3. In terms of the Survey and prize draw entries, we will not accept:
  1. responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware of software failure of any kind; or
  2. proof of transmission as proof of receipt of completion of the Survey and/or entry into the prize draw. 
  1. By completing the Survey, and if you opt in to the prize draw, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  2. One winner will be chosen at the end of each calendar month by manually checking that the entry meets the eligibility criteria (clause 5) and a random draw performed by a computer process. National Express will then again verify that the selected entry meets the eligibility criteria (clause 5). If National Express, in its sole discretion, determines that the selected entry does not meet the eligibility criteria (clause 5), an alternative winner will be selected using the process set out in this clause 4.5.

 

  1. ELIGIBILITY
  1. The prize draw is only open to all UK residents aged 18 years or over who:
  1. have completed the Survey within one week of National Express sending the link to the Survey; and 
  2. provided their name, county and email address for entry into the prize draw, 

except for employees of National Express, its group companies and its affiliates (and members of their respective households and families) or any third party directly associated with administration of this prize draw. 

  1. In entering the prize draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize. National Express may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the prize draw.
  2. There is a limit of one entry to each monthly prize draw per customer.  Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed. Duplicate entries will be removed. 
  3. We will not return Survey entries to you. 

 

  1. THE PRIZE
  1. The prize is a GBP £100 Amazon voucher, which will be emailed to the winner at the email address provided by the winner in the Survey.
  2. The prize is not negotiable or transferable and there is no cash alternative for the prize.  
  3. National Express reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond our control makes it necessary to do so.
  4. In order to claim the prize, you must provide a valid email address.

 

  1. WINNERS
  1. National Express will contact the winner personally within seven (7) calendar days of the draw, using the telephone number and/or email address provided with the prize draw entry.
  2. National Express’ decision is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

 

  1. CLAIMING THE PRIZE
  1. If you are the winner of the prize, you will have seven (7) calendar days from being contacted by National Express to claim the prize. If you do not claim the prize by this date, your claim will become invalid.
  2. We will make reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed the prize within seven (7) calendar days of being contacted, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize for that month.
  3. The prize cannot be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
  4. The winner is responsible for any taxes that may be due on the prize.
  5. National Express does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.

 

  1. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Insofar as is permitted by law, we, our agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by our negligence or negligence of our agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

 

  1. OWNERSHIP OF SURVEY ENTRIES AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
  1. All Survey entries, including the intellectual property rights in the Survey entry, will become our property on receipt and will not be returned.
  2. By submitting your Survey entry, you agree to:
  1. assign to us all your intellectual property rights in the Survey entry with full title guarantee;
  2. use, reproduction, and distribution of the content of the Survey entry, in connection with National Express’ services; and
  3. waive all moral rights, in and to your Survey entry and otherwise arising in connection with your entry to which you may now or at any time in the future be entitled under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 as amended from time to time.

 

  1. DATA PROTECTION
  1. We will only process your personal information as set out in the Post Journey Market Research Survey Prize Draw privacy notice for our customer and passenger privacy notice please click here
  2. We will only collect your name, email address, telephone number and county that you live in. We will use your name, email address and telephone number to contact the winner. In order to send the winner the prize your name and email address will be used. For personal data we collected that did not result in a winning entry we will remove this from our systems one month after the end date of the prize draw. Please be aware that we may hold your personal data for our other obligations and purposes. We also collect technical data such as your IP Address.
  3. National Express will continue to hold the winner's email address for six years for financing purposes and we will attribute your winning entry to your customer profile that we hold within our database.
  4. National Express must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation, National Express will send the surname and county of the prize winner and, if applicable a copy of their winning entry, to anyone who emails cex@nationalexpress.com or writes to Customer Experience Team, National Express at National Express House, Birmingham Coach Station, Mill Lane, Digbeth, Birmingham, England B5 6DD (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one (1) month of the prize draw. We will securely hold these requests within a document in our secure network and these will be held for 6 months after the end of the monthly prize draw. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please notify cex@nationalexpress.com. In such circumstances, National Express must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request. We will comply with the Data Protection Act 2018 in relation to any requests for personal data.

 

  1. GENERAL
  1. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, we may, at our sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the Survey and / or the prize draw.
  2. We reserve the right to hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the Survey and /or the prize draw where it becomes necessary to do so, and without notice to you.
  3. We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice to you.
  4. These terms and conditions are governed by English law and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.

National Express Limited and associated Affiliates, trading as “National Express” (“National Express”) is the controller of your personal data. National Express, will process your personal data fairly, lawfully and in a transparent manner. We will ensure that:

  • the personal data we obtain from you is adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purpose;

By taking part in this Prize Draw, we may collect the following types of personal data about you:

  • your email address; and

In addition, each time you click the link to the Prize Draw we, Verve and Alida may automatically collect the following information:

    • IP address;
    • browser type and version;
    • time zone setting and location; and
    • operating system and platform;
  • transaction data, including:
    • the full Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) clickstream to, through and from our website (including date and time); and
    • time on page, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks and mouse-overs) and methods used to browse away from the page.

National Express relies on Article 6 (1) (a): the data subject has given consent to the processing of their personal data for one or more specific purposes; as the lawful basis for processing personal data in line with the Prize Draw.

 

  1. What if we have obtained your consent to use your personal data?

 

By submitting your response to the Prize Draw you are providing National Express with your consent to process your personal data for the purposes outlined in this privacy notice and the Post Journey Market Research Survey and  Prize Draw Terms and Conditions. You may withdraw your consent for the processing of your personal data for the Prize Draw at any time by contacting us using the details at the bottom of this privacy notice. If you withdraw your consent to the Prize Draw before the winner has been selected then you will no longer be in contention for the prize.

 

Where you have consented to the use of cookies, you may withdraw that consent at any time by changing your cookie settings as explained in our cookie policy. 

 

  1. Who will we share your personal data with?

 

We may share your personal data with:

 

  • other National Express Group companies, (Affiliates); 
  • our suppliers, sub-contractors, business partners and our brand ambassadors who help us to provide our products and services to you;
  • suppliers who provide us with analytics, customer insights and market research; 
  • other business partners in connection with the provision of their products and services to you; 
  • our legal and professional advisors;
  • analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimisation of our websites;      
  • other companies that take on any part of our business as a result of a restructure, merger or transfer of that part of our business; and
  • suppliers in connection with the Prize Draw Amazon voucher. Amazon is an independent data controller and is in no way affiliated with the Prize Draw. On using the voucher code, you will share your personal data with Amazon and please refer to Amazon’s privacy notice for how it processes your personal data.

 

Please note that by submitting your response to the Prize Draw via the survey platform providers Verve and Alida, your data is also governed by the survey providers, they act as a data processor and sub-processor to National Express. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for this notice or policy or third parties’ handling of your personal data. Please check the relevant third party’s privacy notice before you submit any personal data to their respective websites.

 

  1. Do we transfer your personal data outside of the UK?

 

There may be occasions where it is necessary for us to transfer your personal data to a country outside of the UK. It is possible that the country concerned may not be deemed to provide a similar level of protection for individuals’ rights in relation to their personal data as in the UK.

 

Where we transfer your personal data to other National Express Group companies, (Affiliates) and/or third parties who process your personal data on our behalf in countries outside the UK that are not deemed to provide a similar level of protection for individuals’ rights in relation to their personal data as in the UK, we have entered into appropriate contracts with those National Express Group companies (Affiliates) and/or third parties approved for use in the UK which give personal data the same protection as it has in the UK.

  1. For how long will we process your personal data?

 

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including satisfying any legal or accounting or in respect of our relationship with you.

 

Where we process your personal data based on:

 

  • your consent we will process such personal data for a period of 1 month after the Prize Draw closes or until you withdraw that consent. Please bear in mind that it may take a short time to process any withdrawal of your consent. We aim to do this within 72 hours of receipt of your request.
  • For winning Prize Draw entries we will have to hold your personal data to comply with our financial and regulatory obligations.
  • We will hold and combine your Prize Draw personal data to your customer profile within our database. This data will be held for six years for statistical monitoring, financial obligations and/or to keep our records up to date and adequate.
  • Where you have asked for the winner entry then we will continue to hold this data for six months after your request.
