Children under 14 years of age are not permitted to travel without being accompanied throughout the journey by a responsible person aged 16 years or over.
Children aged 14 - 15 years old may travel unaccompanied, as from 5am, arriving at their booked destination no later than 10pm. Unaccompanied children will be asked for proof of age or a signed letter of permission from their parent/guardian. (sms or chat based messages are not permissible)

One infant aged 0-2 travels free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket. Additional infants aged 0-2 must be paid for. If you are travelling with more than 1 infant aged 0-2, please book the additional infant as 'Children (3-15).

Our partnership with the University of Birmingham makes your journey from the airport to the University easy! Board your coach at London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport, London Stansted Airport, or Manchester Airport, and travel to Birmingham Coach Station for free.

This offer is only open to eligible new students and Birmingham International Summer School attendees, and you must redeem your voucher code from the University before booking. Find out more. Please note that it can take up to 5 working days to receive your voucher code.

Once you have received your voucher code from the University of Birmingham, you will be able to book your preferred time and date using the journey planner above. Make sure to leave plenty of time between when your flight lands and your coach's departure time.

Choose the Fully Flexible and Change & Go options to add flexibility for you to change your booking before travel, and if your flight is delayed.

Any other extras not covered by the voucher (such as additional luggage or a specific seat reservation) will be chargeable at checkout. Please check your booking carefully before confirming. Please note if you need to make changes to your booking, you will need to contact us by phone (03717 818181) or through our social media channels, as our system will not recognise that you have used a voucher for your booking. If you have any questions about the airport transfer or your arrival at the University of Birmingham, please contact the University and include your full name and student ID number (7-digit number e.g., 1001234). How to redeem this offer

  • You will need to complete the voucher form to request your voucher code from the University of Birmingham. You will need the following details:
    • Your full name
    • Your student ID number (7-digit number e.g., 1001234)
    • Your email address
    • The airport you are travelling from (Heathrow/Gatwick/Manchester/Stansted)
    • The date you expect to travel on

Please note that it can take up to 5 working days to receive your voucher code.

  • Valid for travel for Birmingham International Summer School attendees between 17 and 20 July and 9 and 12 August 2025.
  • Only valid for travel from Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport, Stansted Airport and Manchester Airport to Birmingham coach station.
  • Your National Express ticket must be booked a minimum of three working days prior to travelling.
  • The National Express luggage allowance (free of charge and stored in the hold of the coach):
    • 1 large suitcase or rucksack, measuring no more than 75cm x 50cm x 32cm and
      weighing no more than 20kg.
    • Subject to availability only: instead of 1 large suitcase or rucksack, you may carry
      2 medium suitcases, measuring no more than 70cm x 45cm x 30cm and weighing
      no more than 20kg in total.
  • Please note: Any extras, such as luggage or seat reservations, are not included in the University of Birmingham offer. If required, you will need to add these to the booking and pay for them by card on the payment screen.
