Whether it’s the cat who ate the turkey when no one was looking, grandad belting out Mariah Carey after too many sherries, the engagement ring in the cracker or a surprise visit from a relative on Christmas Eve; moments like these make Christmas.

But what about your unforgettable Christmas moment?

Is there a Christmas moment with loved ones you dream of but haven’t been able to make happen? Is your family spread out across the UK or even abroad so it takes hours of travelling and diary planning to even get you all in one place?

We’re looking to bring people together to help make a special, unforgettable Christmas moment.

All you have to do is tell us about your idea for an unforgettable Christmas moment - whether it be romantic, unusual, funny or quirky - to be in with a chance of winning our very special prize.

How to enter

Please complete the online entry form, which requires you to provide:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your contact telephone number
  • Details of your suggestion for an unforgettable 'Christmas Moment'?
  • Why you are asking for National Express to help create your special 'Christmas Moment'?
  • Details of your family or friendship group up to the maximum of 10 people.

Terms & conditions

  • The promoter is National Express Limited, National Express House, Birmingham Coach Station, Mill Lane, Digbeth, Birmingham B5 6DD (“National Express”).
  • The title of the competition is “Making Christmas Moments”.
  • The competition will run from Wednesday 30 October 2019 to Sunday 17 November 2019. All completion entries must be received by National Express by no later than midnight on Sunday 17 November 2019. Competition entries received after this time and date shall automatically be disqualified.
  • To enter this competition, complete the online entry form at www.nationalexpress.com/en/offers/partners/christmas-family-competition.
  • All entries and any accompanying materials submitted to National Express will become the property of National Express on receipt and will not be returned.
  • No purchase is necessary.
  • National Express accepts no responsibility for lost or misplaced entries and incomplete entries will be disregarded.
  • By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  • There is a limit of one entry per person.
  • All entrants must be aged 18 years or over and reside in the UK.
  • Employees (and members of their households and families) of National Express and National Express group companies are not eligible to participate in the competition.
  • If National Express reasonably believes that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, National Express may, at its sole discretion, exclude any competition entry and/or entrant.
  • The information provided in competition entries may be used by National Express in promotional activity in relation to the competition and prize.
  • The prize will be the ‘Christmas Moment’, as outlined in the winner’s competition entry and subject to a maximum cash value of £3,000 and 10 return coach tickets:
    • National Express will provide reasonable assistance to the winner to help the winner create their ‘Christmas Moment’, as outlined in the winner’s competition entry, subject to a maximum cash value of £3,000.
    • National Express will make reasonable efforts to create the ‘Christmas Moment’, as outlined in the winner’s competition entry, but cannot promise to meet the winner’s expectations for their ‘Christmas Moment’.
    • If elements of the ‘Christmas Moment’ include the winner personally making arrangements, proof of spend may be requested in order for National Express to reimburse such costs, subject to the maximum cash value of £3,000.
    • Coach travel vouchers will be provided by National Express in the form of a complimentary return journey for a maximum of 10 people from anywhere to anywhere on the
    • National Express UK coach network (excluding Northern Ireland). There is no cash alternative for the travel vouchers.
    • Travel will be subject to availability.
    • Travel insurance is not provided.
    • All coach tickets are issued and all passengers are carried subject to National Express’s General Conditions of Carriage and Privacy Policy.
  • In addition, National Express reserves the right to award one or more ‘Christmas Moments’ runner-up prizes. The total value of the ‘Christmas Moments’ runner-up prizes shall not exceed a maximum cash value of £1,000 for all ‘Christmas Moments’ runner-up prizes.
  • The prize must be redeemed between Wednesday 20 November 2019 and Sunday 8 December 2019. National Express does not accept any responsibility if the winner (or their family or friendship group) are not able to take up the prize by this date.
  • The winner will be selected by a group of judges (one of whom will be independent) and their decision will be based on information provided by entrants. The decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The criteria for selection of the winning entry and runner-up prizes will be:
    • use of the National Express UK coach network in the creation of the entrant’s ‘Christmas Moment’;
    • practicality of creating the ‘Christmas Moment’ for the maximum prize fund.
  • National Express may require entrants to submit further information in order to validate any details outlined in their competition entry.
  • The winner and runners-up will be notified by Tuesday 19 November 2019 using the contact details provided on the online entry form.
  • The winner (and their family or friendship group) and runners-up will be required to participate in publicity regarding this competition and the prize. This may include photography, filming, being interviewed and speaking to the media about the competition and what this has meant to the winner (and their family or friendship group).
  • National Express shall either publish or make available information that indicates that details of the winner (and their family or friendship group) and the prize. This will be via publicity from National Express around the competition and can be requested by contacting National Express via competitions@nationalexpress.com.
  • Insofar as is permitted by law, National Express, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or runners-up (or their respective family or friendship group) or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize or runner-up prize (as applicable), except where it is caused by the negligence of National Express, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  • National Express will only process personal data as set in our Privacy Policy.
  • National Express reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel or amend the competition and/or prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
  • These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
