Our favourite 2019 festival moments (and what’s still to come!)

Don't miss your festival experience this summer

Published: 29/07/2019

What a festival season it's been so far (if a little wet at times!) From the epic Glastonbury weekend to embracing metal culture at Download, there's been a little something for everyone.

But it's far from over yet! Here are a few of our favourite moments from the 2019 festival calendar so far, plus some events we're still looking forward to!

Our own mini-Glasto!

We wanted our Glastonbury travellers to feel like they were at the biggest weekend of the year before it even started. Turning our Birmingham and Manchester coach stations into our own mini-Glasto areas, we hired some great local artists for live music and even sung some coach announcements together!

Check out the video below to see some highlights from the day.

Kylie's triumphant Pyramid Stage set

If we're honest, this whole blog could be filled with Glastonbury highlights. With incredible performances from Stormzy, The Cure and... David Attenborough (!?) it was an unbelievable weekend for music, and British culture. However, the icing on the cake had to be our adopted Aussie's emotional set.

Kylie Minogue was due to headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2005, a career-defining moment. But life can be cruel, and Kylie faced a different challenge, battling breast cancer until she entered full remission in 2006.

14 years after the performance that never was, Kylie finally had her moment on the Pyramid Stage. Hit after hit was lovingly consumed by the Worthy Farm audience as Kylie did her best to avoid shedding victorious tears.

Slayer's final UK performance

Download 2019 saw the swan song of the irreplaceable thrash metal icons, Slayer. With a legion of fans in tow, a catalogue of 12 studio albums to pick from and a non-stop ferocity that many have failed to replicate, Slayer gave all that they had left and then some.

Whether this indeed is the last we see of the Californian headbangers or if further reunion tours are still to come (that never happens right?), only time will tell. But if Slayer had to go out, they went out with a festival performance truly worthy of their 38 year legacy.

Lana Del Rey's sultry spectacle at Latitude

Possible time-traveller and modern feminist folk hero, Lana Del Rey, managed to turn Suffolk’s Henham Park into a smokey 50's tavern with her incredible Latitude set.

Supported by a cavalcade of palm trees, deck chairs and vintage beach footage on the big screens, Del Rey's luxurious vocals soared through every song of her set. Her effortless cool shook only briefly to appreciate the deafening response to hits like Born to Die, You're Pretty When You Cry and the groundbreaking, Video Games.

Yes, as the confetti showered and Ms Del Rey left the stage, it confirmed what everyone already knew. An incredible performance can come in all shapes and sizes, from men and women, and from even the most mysterious of stars.

What we're still looking forward too...

Going green with Green Man

While many performances are sure to stand out at Green Man, it’s their efforts to prove that festivals can take place without the controversial environmental issues strapped to them that make us proud to partner with them.

The coach is the greenest way to travel to festivals, with CO2 emissions being five times lower than a car. Plus, when we all travel together that’s less vehicles needed on the roads! Visit our Green Man Festival page to book your coach tickets and find out more.

The wackiness of life in Boomtown

Heading into its 11th year, Boomtown Fair never fails to add a unique flair to festival season. From the distinctly different towns and districts, to the wide choice of music and even storylines to get involved in, something for everyone doesn’t come close to summing up this experience.

No matter what you look for in a weekend away, Boomtown is a truly special event. Book your coach tickets today on our Boomtown Fair page.
