Love the beach? Choose the English Riviera for a Seaside Staycation

The English Riviera, which spans seaside towns of Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and more, is a beautiful area of the UK with over 22 miles of coastline and 20 beaches.

This is the perfect choice for those dreaming of a seaside getaway. One of the best beaches you can visit is the award-winning Oddicombe Beach. Just be sure to bring a camera to this stunning location as you’ll want to capture those scenic views of dramatic red sands!

Not only will you have award-winning beaches to enjoy, the area is also home to a wide variety of festival and attractions you will not want to miss. One of our favourites includes the two-week long Seafood Festival, which takes ‘plaice’ by the coast from 20th September - 6th October, giving you the chance to taste a range of new and exciting seafood including the best fish and chips in the world!

Not a fan of sand in your toes? Choose Edinburgh for a Cultural Staycation

Edinburgh is a must-visit spot in 2019 if you love culture, history and arts. And the best part is, so many of the best things to do in the city are completely free!

Our first recommendation has to be Arthur’s Seat. ‘Sitting’ proudly above Edinburgh, this ancient volcano gives you some of the best views of the city. The roughly two-hour climb takes you right to the peak giving you the excellent chance to escape the busy streets and really soak in how beautiful this area of the world is.

Be sure to take some amazing snaps like this one here!

If hilly walks aren’t your thing but you’re still enthusiastic to immerse yourself in the city don’t forget that every August Edinburgh transforms for the Fringe Festival, a fantastic way to experience great entertainment while also exploring the city for less!

You should also sign up to some of the free tours of Edinburgh that happen every day. These tours take you through the city giving details about the best pubs, insights into Edinburgh’s spooky history and some of the places where J.K Rowling found inspiration for the iconic Harry Potter series. You are bound to find a tour that peaks your personal curiosities, but be sure to book here to guarantee your free spot.

Britain’s Second City: Head to Birmingham for the Ultimate City Break

If a city break is more your thing you’re in luck! Birmingham has some of the greatest museums, shopping and nightlife to enjoy without the big price tag that London carries. You’ll find it’s easy to lose track of time strolling through the Bullring or Grand Central, especially when you discover the delicious and affordable food options like Pho and Tortilla.

One of our top picks, however, has to be the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. With a wide variety of permanent and temporary exhibits including the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest hoard of Anglo-Saxon gold and silver metalwork ever found, and the Woman Power Protest exhibit, marking a century since women gained the vote. (Running until 31 Mar 2019) And that's just scratching the surface on what you can discover.

Enjoy shopping but want something you won't find on the high street? Birmingham’s Great Western Arcade is home to some of the best independent retailers Birmingham has to offer. Pick up a sweet treat at Miss Macaroon or taste some of the greatest wine and spirits in the area at Loki Wine as well as a souvenir to remember your trip from Bentley's card & gift shop.

So there you have it, some of the best places for a UK staycation, all accessible by coach, and even the chance to win a free overnight stay, what more could you want?
