48 hours in Blackpool by coach

Published: 31st July 2025

48 hours in Blackpool by coach

Blackpool isn’t trying to be cool. It’s bold, bright, a bit bonkers and that’s exactly why we love it. Where else can you ride a rollercoaster, dance in a ballroom, and eat fish and chips while dodging seagulls... all before lunch?

And yes, getting there is easy. When you’re smart enough to go by National Express. No traffic. No parking stress. Just plug in your phone, sit back, and let us take you to the seaside in style.

Here’s how to spend 48 hours in Blackpool, like someone who knows what they’re doing.

Blackpool Illuminations

Day 1: Arrival, towering ambitions & illuminated escapism

10:00 – Arrive at Blackpool Coach Station
Located right in the centre, so you’re not trudging in from a layby off the A-road. We do enjoy punctuality.

10:15 – Coffee & cake at a retro café
Blackpool is peppered with cafés that think time stopped in 1963, in the best possible way. Find one, order something frothy, and don’t overthink the vintage teapots.

11:30 – Blackpool Tower
You’ll spot it before you arrive, of course. But up close, it’s oddly majestic. Head to the Tower Eye for the views (and yes, the glass floor is still mildly terrifying). Pretend you're not slightly thrilled. We won't tell.

13:00 – Fish, chips, and existential joy
You’re by the sea. It’s the law. Bonus points if you fend off seagulls with the practised air of someone who's done this before.

14:30 – Ballroom dancing (or people watching)
Pop into the Tower Ballroom. You don’t need to dance, but it’s oddly comforting watching people waltz in a place that smells faintly of nostalgia and furniture polish.

16:00 – Check-in & feet up
A tidy B&B or quirky guesthouse is the way to go. No need for anything flashy, Blackpool excels in endearing eccentricity.

19:00 – Illuminations
If you’re visiting between late August and early November, Blackpool turns into the Vegas of Lancashire. Hop on a tram for the full effect, or just wander with a cone of something sweet and neon-coloured.

22:00 – Nightcap at a classic pub
Find somewhere with sticky carpets and a jukebox. That’s where the stories are.

Blackpool Beach Donkeys

Day 2: Donkeys, arcades & self-awareness

08:30 – Breakfast that defies science
You’ll be offered everything. Say yes. Black pudding, fried bread, the slightly mysterious sausage. This is fuel, not finesse.

10:00 – Sandcastle waterpark
Because being hurled through a tube at 40mph is what you want after a full English, right? Still, it’s genuinely impressive and wonderfully chaotic.

12:00 – Donkey rides & beach rambling
There’s something deeply grounding about watching donkeys plod along the sand. Blackpool is a masterclass in leaning into its traditions.

13:30 – Pier pressure
There are three piers. Yes, three. Hit at least one. Win something plastic, lose £2 in a 2p machine, and question your moral fibre while debating another hot dog.

15:30 – Ice cream on the promenade
Final moments of leisure should be creamy and cold. Possibly with a flake. Definitely with a view.

17:00 – Back to the coach station
Slightly sandy, mildly windblown, and thoroughly entertained. Settle in, stretch out, and let us handle the journey home while you digest both the chips and the memories.

Why travel with us?

Because you don’t need the stress. Because we’ve got free Wi-Fi, chargers, legroom, and an unfathomable ability to stay calm even when someone brings an entire picnic on board. And because few things feel better than cruising past traffic in a comfy seat, coffee in hand, knowing you made the smart choice to let someone else do the driving.

So next time you're planning a seaside escape that’s gloriously unpretentious, culturally rich (yes, really), and knows exactly what it is, take the coach to Blackpool.

We’ll save you a seat.
