Why take the train to Manchester when you could actually enjoy yourself?

Why take the train to Manchester when you could actually enjoy yourself?

Ah, London to Manchester. A journey that, depending on your chosen mode of transport, can either feel like a smooth transition between two great cities or like starring in a live-action remake of Survivor: Commuter Edition.

Let’s talk about trains. Because everyone does, don’t they? Trains are supposedly the “fast” option. That’s if you make it past the inevitable “service suspended due to overhead line issues,” “train cancelled due to staff shortages,” or our personal favourite: “severe delays due to leaves on the track.” (Yes, leaves. Nature is the true nemesis of rail travel.)

Then there’s Euston Station. The word “station” feels generous, “heaving mass of humanity clinging to departure boards” is closer to reality. You’ll stand there, clutching your luggage, your coffee, and your sanity, waiting for your platform to be announced, only to sprint like a startled gazelle when it finally appears. Nothing screams “relaxing journey” quite like an impromptu track-and-field event.

And if your train does arrive on time, congratulations! You’ve won the prize of being wedged against a stranger’s armpit for the next two hours. First class? Oh yes, that’ll cost the equivalent of a small family holiday abroad. But do enjoy your free crisps.

London

Now, let’s talk coaches. Specifically, our coaches. You know what we do when it rains? We drive. Leaves on the road? Still driving. Staff shortages? Your driver is already sat up front, waving at you. We don’t have departure boards that send you into cardiac arrest. Your seat? It’s guaranteed. Reserved. Yours. No elbows, no rugby tackles, no £200 price tag for the privilege of arriving in Manchester.

Our vehicles also come with FREE Wi-Fi, charging points, legroom, and, most importantly, the faint possibility of a nap without being jostled awake by someone with a Pret baguette.

So, London to Manchester by train: delays, cancellations, and Euston-induced stress migraines. London to Manchester by National Express: a seat, a socket, and a little bit of sanity.

The choice is yours. If you know, you go National Express.
