Oktoberfest UK 2025: Lederhosen, pretzels, and coaches
Beer steins the size of small dogs, strangers linking arms and shouting along to songs they don’t know the words to, and pretzels so large they could double as steering wheels. Oktoberfest season is rolling across the UK again in 2025. Yes, it’s Bavarian in name only, but we Brits do love a themed party.
If you fancy swapping your local for a tent full of people in questionable lederhosen, here’s where to go. Better still, leave the car keys at home and take a coach. Nothing says “cultural authenticity” like disembarking in full fancy dress at a National Express stop.
London
London never does things by halves or by pints. Expect tents in Finsbury Park and Hammersmith, plus a scatter of pop-ups across the city. There’ll be steins, bratwurst, and just enough accordion music to make you question your life choices.
When: 11 October 2025
Where: Finsbury Park
Travel note: Coaches roll into Victoria from almost everywhere. If you’re coming up from Brighton or down from Birmingham, you’ll arrive ready for a bratwurst rather than a parking fine.
Birmingham
The second city goes all in with big tents and bierkellers from late September into October. Expect communal bench seating, enthusiastic oompah bands, and a lot of “Ein Prosit” shouted with varying accuracy.
When: 20 September - 12 October 2025
Where: Albert Schloss
Coach fact: Services from Manchester and Nottingham drop you in central Birmingham in under two hours. Just enough time for a nap before the first stein arrives.
Manchester
Manchester’s Oktoberfest leans into the party vibe, with a Halloween special at the end of October. Think Frankenstein meets Franziskaner. The city’s already good at nights out; throwing in lederhosen is just extra seasoning.
When: 30 October - 1 November 2025
Where: First St. City center
Travel fact: Coaches from Liverpool take less than an hour, which is handy if you want to be back in your own bed before the pretzel crumbs have settled.
Bristol
Bristol’s Oktoberfest has a family-friendly daytime version (pretzels for the kids, beer for the adults) plus the inevitable late-night stein-fests in October. It’s the most wholesome you’ll ever feel while holding a litre of lager.
When: 18 October 2025
Where: The Prospect Building
Coach fact: Coming from Cardiff? It’s about 70 minutes on a National Express service. That’s roughly one episode of a German language podcast you won’t actually pay attention to.
Glasgow
Glasgow does Oktoberfest with gusto: live music, Scottish breweries joining in, and enough energy to forget that Munich is several hundred miles away. Expect plenty of kilts worn in solidarity with the dirndl.
When: 18 October 2025
Where: The Barras
Coach note: Coaches from Edinburgh take just over an hour. Long enough to debate whether lederhosen should ever be paired with a sporran.
Leeds
Leeds throws its Oktoberfest across multiple nights in late September and October. Students, locals, and anyone with access to a novelty hat will pile into the TESTBED venue for bratwurst and questionable dance moves.
When: 27 September 2025
Where: Testbed
Travel tip: From Sheffield it’s around 50 minutes by coach. Which is barely enough time to rehearse your best “Prost” cheer.
Why go by coach?
Because it’s cheaper, faster than you think, and someone else does the driving. Plus, we don’t judge what you’re wearing: lederhosen, dirndl, or just a sensible raincoat.
Bonus: Luggage allowance is generous, so yes, you can bring home that giant pretzel.
Final thought
Germany has Munich. We have Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, and London. Each offers a slice of Bavarian chaos, served with a bratwurst. Grab your mates, book your tent table, and hop on a coach. Nothing says “Prost!” like arriving without having to park.
