Horrortown - National Wonders

What is Horrortown?

Hidden in the rural outskirts of Northamptonshire lies a peculiar, close-knit town. Now we’re not talking about any old, quaint, country town. Think more post-mortems than post offices and ghouls than schools. The locals here are more than eccentric, to say the least, and are just dying to meet new visitors.

Try Mama Beef’s Farm for some delicious bbq or head to the hospital for a bit of shock therapy, the local cinema is also popular and the staff really bend over backwards. The town in question is Dr Fright’s Horrortown of course. Catering to all needs, guests are welcome any time, in fact, its inhabitants are depending on it…

In our National Wonders mission to celebrate the quirkiest events across the UK, we travelled to Dr Fright’s Horrortown in Earl’s Barton for a Halloween special to see what this scarefest is all about. And to scare the pants off ourselves in the process…

Why should I visit Horrortown?

Containing thrilling walk through scare attractions, Dr Fright’s Halloween Nights has been frightening visitors for the last 8 years, with each addition bringing new and (Evil) genius ways of horrifying anyone who dares to enter.

It’s no surprise to see that Doctor Frights has been voted the UK’s Best Scream Park. From killer clowns to cannibal hillbillies, to even some of horror’s most famous faces, Dr Fright’s Halloween Nights is, let’s say, extremely creative in scaring you. With a number of attractions designed to frighten, revellers must follow winding trails filled with a number of spooky a surprises along the way. None more frightening and entertaining than its team of committed scare actors (way too committed!) whose sole job is to petrify entrants throughout the evening.

Doctor Fright’s has more than earned its spooky place on the National Wonders frame to experience it is something completely unique and entertaining, and hard to properly put into words. So if you want to find out what happened, check out our video above, as we ask, “Is this really how the UK spends Halloween?”
