Have a Romantic City Break This Valentine’s Day

Discover the best places to travel to by coach

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, which means it is the perfect opportunity for you and a loved one to escape for a romantic getaway together. Our coaches travel to the most beautiful destinations in the UK, meaning that many of them are perfect for a romantic city break for couples...

In this blog, we will cover the best places you and your beloved can spend some quality rest and relaxation time with each other. Not to mention, you’ll save so much money on travel costs that you’ll be able to complete the trip with all the flowers, chocolates and oversized teddy bears you want!

Treat yourself to a relaxing stay in Bath

Bath is renowned for its historic Georgian architecture and is top of our list for a Valentine’s city break. Top destinations to visit in Bath include the iconic Royal Crescent, The Roman Baths, and The Royal Mint Experience.

This lovely photo of the Roman Baths was shared with us by Chery, who had a great time exploring Bath. (via Facebook)

Once you’ve taken in the sights, make sure you stop by Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House, which just so happens to be one of the oldest houses in the city of Bath. But it gets even better, as this spot is also home to the local delicacy named the Sally Lunn bun, which is like a mix between a teacake and a sweet brioche!

Check out the Visit Bath website for some great accommodation ideas, no matter your budget. Romantic rooftop pool anyone?

Explore history (and shop til’ you drop!) in Oxford

Oxford is a city steeped in history, and there’s something so romantic about losing yourself in its cobbled streets and ancient buildings. Why not take a walking tour together? You could visit the Pitt Rivers Museum, a UNESCO world heritage site Blenheim Palace, or one of Oxford’s many other historical wonders.

If you and your other half also enjoy a spot of shopping, then a city break in Oxford is definitely for you! With an amazing selection of local markets, an Alice in Wonderland themed shop and the huge indoor mall, Westgate, there are plenty of opportunities for retail therapy.

Whether you like the sound of Oxford as a day trip or weekend away, head over to the Experience Oxfordshire website to get a load more details on all the best places to shop, explore and stay in the city.

Slow things down with a weekend break in Nottingham

Sometimes doing nothing at all can be the most relaxing and romantic thing, take a look at rural Nottingham for the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

The North West of Nottingham is home to The Dukeries, a woodland area offering the perfect spot for long strolls, picnics and spending quality time with the most important people to us. Clumber Park, meanwhile, offers expansive woods and parkland and is open daily all year round. One of the best parts of this area is the low cost of bicycle hire, meaning you can see more of this beautiful National Trust park for less.

So if a quiet Nottingham escape takes your fancy, find out more at the Visit Nottinghamshire website.

Become city explorers in Liverpool

If you and your loved one are keen to soak up us as much city culture as possible, a break in Liverpool is a great choice. The city is home to more art, music, history, sports and museums than you could possibly ever see in one day, so be sure to book somewhere to stay for a day or two!

Liverpool is also a fantastic option if you are travelling on a budget this Valentine’s Day, as it's home to some of the best free attractions around. Fun, free things to do in Liverpool include visiting the World Museum and Tate Liverpool. Both are home to incredible exhibits of world history and modern art that will amaze you from beginning to end.

Once you've lost yourself in the museums and found your way back again, stop by some of Liverpool’s great cafes. One spot we recommend is Cafe Lucaya, a Bahamas themed cafe serving great food all day. It's the perfect place to fill up on coffee, sandwiches and cake.

Has Liverpool taken your fancy? check out the Visit Liverpool website for more information.
