Things to do in Cirencester

There's plenty to see and do in Cirencester, from great shopping to parks and museums that showcase the best of the Cotswolds. Take in incredible scenic views with plenty of open spaces and wooded paths at Cirencester Park, one of the largest landscape parks in England.

Learn all about the local history of the Cotswolds at Corinium Museum, packed full of interesting Roman artefacts and perfect for all ages. The town's independent shops and boutiques along the historic streets offer a refreshing alternative to chain stores, while the parish church of St John the Baptist stands as one of England's finest examples of Perpendicular Gothic architecture.

Stay in the know: Savvy tip for Cirencester!

Don't miss the twice-weekly Cirencester Market on Monday and Friday mornings in the historic Market Place. It's been running since mediaeval times and offers everything from fresh local produce to vintage finds and handmade crafts. Grab a coffee from one of the nearby cafes and soak up the authentic market town atmosphere that makes Cirencester so special.

Perfect for:

History enthusiasts exploring Roman Britain through the Corinium Museum's extensive collection
Nature lovers seeking scenic walks through Cirencester Park's wooded paths
Weekend explorers discovering authentic Cotswold charm on a budget

For budget-conscious travellers, The Fleece at Cirencester offers comfortable rooms in a characterful coaching inn right in the town centre. Alternatively, Premier Inn Cirencester provides reliable comfort at great prices with easy access to the town's attractions. If you fancy something more upmarket, The Kings Head Hotel combines period features with modern amenities without breaking the bank when booked in advance.

Wander down to Brewery Arts, a hidden creative hub housed in a converted Victorian brewery where you'll find artist studios, craft workshops, and a cosy cafe that locals adore. For a peaceful escape, seek out the Abbey Grounds - tranquil gardens built on the ruins of Cirencester Abbey with the gentle River Churn flowing through, offering a serene spot that most visitors walk straight past.
