We take online security very seriously. Soon when you buy coach tickets or coachcards online, you'll notice a new step during the booking process.

3-D Secure (known as MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa) is a new payment verification system being introduced by all major credit card companies for extra security when booking online. If your card issuer is part of the scheme, you may be asked to complete a registration as part of your next online purchase – Since the introduction of 3-D Secure card fraud has dropped considerably.

Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode work on the same principle as chip and pin. When you register, you'll be passed to a page on your card issuer’s website to create a password that only you and your card issuer know. Then, whenever you make purchases online, you'll be asked to enter your password during the booking.

It's a one-off process - once you've registered on the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode site, your password can be used to make online purchases with many other internet retailers in the knowledge that your card is protected from fraudulent use.
