Sun, Wind and Rain, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Birmingham
Fans of traditional English watercolours should head down to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery from January 31st to see a collection of David Cox's paintings.
The Sun, Wind and Rain exhibition showcases the eighteenth-century artist's work and is named after one of his most famous pieces.
Born in the city of Birmingham in 1783, he was apprenticed to Fielder before moving to London at the age of 21.
Known for his loose brush strokes, the painter's art captures a particularly blustery appearance which he used to good effect on his Welsh landscapes.
His use of an unusual canvas material, Scottish wrapping paper, has led to the material becoming known as "Cox paper".
During 1939, he began oil painting, adding another medium to his artistic portfolio and producing a number of pieces in this form.
Edinburgh's Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art is hosting an exhibition of the work of Charles Avery until February 15th next year.
Subtitled The Islanders: An Introduction, it contains paintings, drawings and sculptures exploring the fictional location.
National Express operates bus and coach travel to Birmingham from all major towns and cities in the UK.
