New York Fashion Now, V&A Museum, London
The Victoria & Albert Museum brings the best of New York style to London, with an exhibition showcasing the very best of the city's fashion talent.
New York is remarkable as a fashion capital not just for it vibrancy, but also for its innovation and diversity - which the exhibition hopes to represent by welcoming designers from every corner of the city's fashion scene, concentrating on independent fashion labels, launched between 1999 and 2004, and featuring menswear, womenswear, celebrity and avant garde collections.
Some 60 or so outfits from 20 different designers are on display including Duckie Brown's colourful take on conservative dressing, Zac Posen's elegant sportswear-chic, Sean "Diddy" Coombs' characteristic take on streetwear, and Proenza Schouler's combination of luxurious fabrics and complex detailing.
The exhibition also features interviews with some of the designers showcased and runs until September 23rd.
Address: V&A South Kensington, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL
