National Homebuilding and Renovating Show, National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham

Many Britons might struggle to afford to move house amid the impact of the recession on their finances, but appetite for homebuilding and renovating appears to be showing no signs of abating.

Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre hosts the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show between March 19th and 22nd, with more than 500 exhibitors set to be on hand to provide guests with expert advice on renovating, extending and building properties.

Some 96 seminars will be made available for visitors, who also have the chance to put their questions to experts such as TV presenter Michael Homes, editor in chief of real homes at Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine.

His appearance will follow comments made by Jason Orme, editor of the publication, who noted that loft conversions are proving the most popular home improvement at present.

They are more affordable than building an extension for a property and more easily meet planning regulations, Mr Orme said.
