Iris Prize Festival, Cardiff

A shortlist of 30 short films from gay and lesbian directors will battle it out for the inaugural Iris Prize next month.

The Iris Prize Festival runs from October 4th to 6th will include screenings of all shortlisted films, which have been decided on by an international jury.

The eventual winner will be given the chance to make their next short film in the UK and will receive a prize of £25,000.

Among the submissions are The BubbleDate, which is set in Tel Aviv and tells the story of three friends' lives being turned upside down when one of them falls in love with a Palestinian, and an new adaptation of Oscar Wilde's Faustian tale Picture of Dorian Gray.
