What's on guide
Freak Week, Oceanarium, Bournemouth
A more grisly and weird side of the undersea world will be revealed this half-term in a series of events at the Oceanarium in Bournemouth.
Starting on October 22 and ending on October 28, visitors to Freak Week will come face to face with some of the odder and more macabre creatures of our seas including the Vampire Trigger Fish, Bat Fish, Black Phantom Tetras and Devil's Finger Coral.
There will also be chances to win prizes thanks to the Terrifying Trick or Treat Quiz Trail, in which children are tasked with tracking down and identifying the likes of the Peppermint Shrimp, Ripsaw Catfish and Red Devil Chiclids.
Throughout the week, the museum staff will host face painting sessions and giving educational talks detailing some of the strange and unusual behaviour that takes place in the depths of the sea, such as the Candy Cane Cucumber's habit of vomiting its entire intestines to avoid predators.
