Frankfurt Market, Birmingham

Birmingham will play host to the largest authentic German Christmas market outside Germany and Austria later this month.

Featuring over 90 festive stalls, the market will offer everything from traditional handmade toys, Christmas decorations and jewellery to craft goods.

Visitors will also be able sample German mulled wine (Gluhwein), grilled sausages, vegetarian food, pretzels, German beer, gingerbread, crepes and marzipan sweets.

A further draw is that the event will for the first ever feature a raft of German wines, not ordinarily available in the UK at discounted prices.

Entertainment is provided in the form of fairground rides.

The Frankfurt market will be in Birmingham's Victoria Square and Upper New Street from November 15th to December 23rd.

Other festive events taking place in Birmingham over the Christmas period include T-Mobile Street Ice, which will see Centenary Square transformed into an ice rink, and Slava's Snowshow - a bravura piece of children's theatre with stunning visual effects.
