Car Man, Birmingham Hippodrome

Matthew Bourne's acclaimed Car Man, a sizzling modern-day re-imagining of Bizet's Carmen, comes to Birmingham next month.

Bourne's re-telling of the story transplants the story's blend of murder, betrayal and sexual obsession from 19th century Italy to a sleepy town in the American mid-west in the 1960s.

The play tells the story of Luca, a drifter, who arrives in town and embarks on affairs that rupture the town's conservative sexual norms.

Car Man runs at the Birmingham Hippodrome from November 13th-17th.
