Boxing: Elcok v Macklin, Aston Arena, Birmingham
Two rivals from Birmingham will trade blows in the ring in what promises to be a spectacular British middleweight title clash at the Aston Arena on March 14th.
Local boys Wayne Elcock and Matthew Macklin are set to fight in a contest being dubbed the "Battle of Brum".
Elcock is looking to defend his British title - which he claimed by beating Howard Eastmas in 2007 - for the second time against Macklin.
"There hasn't been a fight like this in Birmingham between two top-rated Brummies for as far back as I can remember," Elcock commented last month.
It marks a big night for British boxing as further north - at the Manchester Evening News Arena - on the same night, Amir Khan faces a tough encounter against Marco Antonio Barrera - who famously ended Prince Naseem Hamed's unbeaten record.
Boxing fans are also in for treat in March as two weeks later on March 28th, two British title fights will be decided at the Liverpool Echo Arena.
Sheffield's Ryan Rhodes defends his light-middleweight title against Anthony Small and Northern Ireland super-middleweight Brian Magee puts his belt on the line to face local boy Tony Dodson.
