Birmingham Pride 2009, Gay Village, Birmingham
A colourful parade through the city's streets will kick start this year's Gay Pride Festival in Birmingham.
Taking place over the bank holiday weekend from May 23rd to 24th, the annual festival will be based in the Gay Village.
Featuring cabaret and comedy acts, funfair rides, a dog show, a pets parade, dancing, musical chairs, a tug of war and community events, the festival is a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Most of the events will take place in the Gay Village which has more than 15 gay bars and clubs.
The Village Green will host community based activities including chill-out and family areas, and market and community stalls.
Over 70,000 people visit Gay Pride in Birmingham every year. This year the festival is organised by Birmingham Pride, a not-for-profit organisation.
