Big Pit Discovery Week, Blaenafon
The Big Pit plays host to a series of special talks and classes later this month as part of Discovery Week.
Visitors to Big Pit from October 29th to November 2nd will be given the chance to explore the brand new learning space at one of Britain's leading mining museums and will also be able to try out a host of hands-on activities.
The free-to-attend programme of events also includes the museum's famous underground tour, which sees visitors taken 300 ft underground with a real miner to see the kind of conditions to which men who worked at the coalface were exposed.
Blaenafon - the town which borders on the Bit Pit - and the surrounding industrial landscape is noted for its rugged beauty and has been designated a World Heritage Site.
Further exhibits being staged at the Big Chair include a Spanish Civil War Exhibition from November 1st-30th and Mother Christmas, at selected dates throughout December.
