Celebrating memories of days gone byNational Express closes Digbeth Coach Station with big celebrationFor nearly 50 years, National Express has provided millions of passengers with affordable travel from its central hub in Birmingham, Digbeth Coach Station. To mark the closure of the old premises before work begins on a new 21st century coach station, National Express is hosting a free fun-filled event for all the family on Saturday 17th November 2007. An abundance of activities for all the family will be taking place to get the commemorative party in full swing, including vintage coaches, refreshments, stalls and kids entertainment. The closure of the premises is a significant move towards the redevelopment of Digbeth Coach Station following the submission of the final planning application, and heralds the start of a new era for coach travel in Birmingham. Get in touch with your Digbeth memoriesTo celebrate the anniversary, National Express would also like to hear from people in and around Birmingham with memories of Digbeth from the past 50 years. Paul Bunting, chief executive at National Express, comments: "Over the past 50 years, Digbeth has thrived with activity and I'm sure many people look back with fond memories of the old station. For National Express it is an exciting time and we are looking forward to new beginnings at the impressive redeveloped premises, due to open in late 2009. "Enjoyable experiences with National Express are what makes coach travel have a special place in people's hearts. We know there are lots of stories out there - whether it is finding love, meeting your best friend, or landing your dream job. We want to hear about people's 'Digbeth Memories' so please get in touch to register your stories."
