Travel insurance covers you for the unexpected while travelling - which inevitably happens when you least expect it. Find out why being properly prepared is an important part of your journey.
Travel insurance is an important part of any journey, particularly those in which you're taking luggage with you. If you're travelling with valuables, sports equipment or money for example, your home insurance may not cover you for any loss or damage to your possessions while you're away from home.
While you may not need an insurance policy with the same level of cover as, for example, the kind you would take if you were going abroad, adding some supplementary cover to your journey is definitely advisable.
Travel insurance is also important when it comes to covering you for accidents. The 'personal accident' and 'personal liability' parts of our policy cover two different things:
Personal accident - covers you in the event of you getting an injury while travelling. National Express travel insurance covers you for varying amounts up to £20,000, depending on the type of injury incurred.
Personal liability - on the other hand, covers you in the event of you injuring someone else or damaging their property, and them making a claim against you for compensation. National Express travel insurance covers you for up to £1 million in the event of this happening.
Tip: Check to see if your home insurance policy documents mention 'cover away from the home' or 'cover outside the home' to see whether your possessions are insured while you're travelling. If not, we'd advise getting some supplementary insurance cover.
National Express Travel Insurance costs £1.50 per person, per journey, and covers you for all of the following:
