Rufus Wainwright, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Birmingham
Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright will appear at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on October 25th and 26th as part of a tour to support the release of his latest album, Release the Stars.
Release the Stars went gold in the UK earlier this year, and the tour looks set to be a great success for Wainwright, who will no doubt feel at home, with his tendency towards the baroque, in the elegant surrounding of the Symphony Hall.
The Canadian-born star has won fans on both sides of the Atlantic for his lush orchestral backing, rock instrumentation and rich, effortless voice since the release of his eponymous debut album in 1998.
Wainwright had a musical pedigree: his parents are folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle and his sister Martha is also building a strong following for her folk-tinged songs and ethereal voice.
Address: Birmingham Symphony Hall, Broad Street, Birmingham City Centre, Birmingham, B1 2HF
