Cult Fiction, Leeds Art Gallery
The relationship between comic books and cartoons and the art world is explored in a new exhibition opening in Leeds this month.
Cult Fiction showcases work from fine artists such Adam Dant and Kerry James Marshall, who have both published their own comics, as well as the cartoon-influenced oeuvres of Raymond Pettibon and David Shrigley, whose work appears in the Guardian newspaper, to chart how the imagery of graphic novels and comic books has influenced contemporary art.
All participating artists have also contributed a self-portrait and answers to questions posed by the curators for a book about the show.
The exhibtion runs from September 27th to November 11th.
As of November 21st, the Leeds Art Galley will also soon play host to finalists in the Northern Art Prize - the largest artist competition in the north of England.
