Newcastle: attractions

Listen to performers while enjoying great views of the Quayside.

Newcastle: shopping

  • No shopaholic would forgive themselves for visiting Newcastle and not spending time in the intu:Metrocentre. Almost 330 shops under one spectacular roof, bringing you every high street name imaginable, and adding an IMAX cinema and over 60 restaurants and bars for good measure.
  • For something a little more eclectic, a trip to the Central Arcade is a must. This beautiful Victorian building is home to many independent stores, with lots of local artists and traders selling their wares. Also a great place to pick up souvenirs.

Newcastle: for free

  • Visit the venue that gave this great city its name and get a glimpse of Newcastle life 1,000 years ago. Newcastle Castle was built in the 1170's, and now serves as a great gateway between Newcastle's ancient architecture and modern designs. 
  • Crowned 'The Hippest Street in Britain' in a Google Maps survey, South Shore Road has to be seen to be believed. With shops and street art, South Shore Road is also home to the Baltic Art Gallery and the Sage Music Centre.

Newcastle: where to eat and drink
