Bournemouth Sightseeing

Bournemouth

Coach Station  |  Introduction  |  Lifestyle

For a small town, Bournemouth certainly offers an abundance of things to see and do, and part of the reason so many visitors take the bus to Bournemouth year after year is that no one could ever manage to cram all the town?s attractions into just one holiday.

Bournemouth's crowning glory is its beautiful coastline, with two piers and views of Poole Bay and the Isle of Wight, and taking a Bournemouth bus is a good starting point for those wishing to explore the nearby Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site. For those of a more adventurous persuasion, Bournemouth is a major water sports centre, and regular buses to Bournemouth mean more and more people are trying their hand at over 20 different activities, including old favourites like sailing and surfing, as well as the more outlandish wake-boarding and coasteering.

Many people who take buses to Bournemouth do so to visit Europe's first artificial surf reef, which has been created by positioning 55 giant sandbags 220m offshore, with the purpose of enlarging existing waves and making them better for surfing. The town's new improved waves have proved popular with surfers from all over the world who regularly load their surfboards onto a Bournemouth bus to experience the phenomenon. It is well worth a stroll along the Boscombe sands to see them in action.

Away from the seafront, people who have taken a bus to Bournemouth have found plenty to tickle their fancy in the local area, especially the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, a stunning Victorian villa housing a world-class collection of arts and crafts from all over the world. Children will have plenty to do when they step off their Bournemouth bus, with a Detective Trail and Explorer Bags, as well as regular workshops, so there's no shortage of things to do even if it rains.

The Bournemouth Oceanarium offers another popular destination for people who have taken buses to Bournemouth, with hundreds of underwater creatures from all over the world showcased in interactive exhibitions that will give children something to talk about for weeks afterwards. And nobody should take a bus to Bournemouth without spending an afternoon getting lost in the town's glorious Victorian gardens which, thanks to the temperate microclimate of the south coast, are home to several tropical species rarely seen in the UK.

Of course, for those who take buses to Bournemouth just for a day trip, there's only one way to fit everything in: take a flight in the Bournemouth Balloon, a massive tethered hot air balloon, from which passengers can see the whole town at once, and take in panoramic views of the English Channel and the surrounding countryside.

Taking a coach to Bournemouth is a great idea for families or groups of people with different interests, because the town offers so many things to see and do, from action-packed adventure to quiet exploration of museums and antique shops. No wonder the Bournemouth bus is so popular!
