Your safety while travelling with National Express is extremely important to us. While crime on public transport is relatively low, we offer a number of different services and provisions to help keep you safe while travelling with us. There are also a few simple things you can do to further improve your safety, particularly if you are travelling on your own. We've created some Personal Safety and Security tips to help your journey go without a hitch:
What we provide
- CCTV on most of our coaches.
- A 24-hour customer contact centre, staffed around the clock.
- Staffed stations across the network, some of them 24-hours a day.
- Coach Tracker to tell you where your coach is on the network.
- A trained and dedicated driver on every coach.
- A customer safety card available on every coach with safety advice.
- A text feedback service where you can give your views on our service straight away.
Personal Safety and Security Tips
- Plan your journey in advance as much as possible. Make sure you know your route and stop, and check the times of the last bus, tram or train if you have connections at your destination.
- If travelling at night or in an unfamiliar area, try and arrange for someone to meet you at your destination's coach station or stop.
- Always try to wait for your coach in a well lit place.
- Have your ticket ready in your hand so your purse or wallet is out of sight and keep valuables like mobile phones, money and jewellery out of sight.
- If you feel concerned about your safety while on the coach, sit close to the driver. If you feel uneasy, move to another seat.
- Register valuable mobile equipment like mobile phones, MP3 players, iPods and laptops on the national database. www.immobilise.com. If they're stolen or lost then later recovered; registering on the database will help the police to reunite you with your property.
- Keep keys separate from anything with your address on it. If you're travelling, thieves may assume your house is empty.
- Switch your mobile phone from ring to vibrate in public places and be discreet when using it.
- Be aware of those around you, especially if you think you might fall asleep.
- Think about installing Panic Guard to your smartphone.

You can report any incidents of antisocial behaviour towards our driver, other customers or yourself, or personal safety concerns by texting the letters "ASB", your coach code (see sticker at the front of your coach) and a brief description to 07786 200 496.
