The Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Birmingham
As part of the nationwide China Now festival, the Hong Kong Chinese orchestra continues its spectacular nationwide tour at the Birmingham Town and Symphony Hall.
The orchestra was founded in 1977 and is the only full professional orchestra to use traditional Chinese instruments, making this a truly unique night of entertainment.
It will feature renditions of a number of classical Chinese compositions, including Wang Ning's Festivities, Zho Jiping's Tracing our Roots with the Old Pagoda Tree, Sui Lijun's Song of the Black Earth, Law Wing-fai's A Thousand Brushstrokes and Peng Xiuwen's Terracotta Warriors Fantasia.
China Now is the largest celebration of Chinese culture ever seen in Britain and began earlier in the month with a series of spectacular festivities to mark the Chinese new year.
The Orchestra will play Birmingham on March 17th, with tickets starting at £10.
Other China Now events around the country during March include the Women in China photography exhibition and the Red Mansion Art Prize, both part of the China in London festival.
National Express operates frequent coach services in and out of prominent British tourist destinations, including Birmingham and London.
