The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947 - 1957, V&A Museum, London

A major new exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum charts the history of haute couture in Paris and London from 1947.

Focussing mainly on the post war decade, the Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947 - 1957 exhibition takes in over 100 dresses including Christian Dior's revolutionary New Look as well as spectacular frocks from Balengiaca, Norman Hartwell and Givenchy.

Meanwhile, further displays include Hollywood and documentary films, audio recordings, textiles, archive material and photographs from renowned society photographer Cecil Beaton - who was also responsible for the artistic direction of the race scene in My Fair Lady.

Other ongoing events at the V&A include New York Fashion Now, the Art of Lee Miller and the Royal Festival Hall Revival, which celebrates the 1951 Festival of Britain-era building's heritage and its recent refurbishment.

Address: V&A South Kensington, Cromwell Road, London SW7 2RL

The exhibit runs from September 22nd to January 6th.
