The First Emperor: China's Terracotta Army, British Museum, London

A section of Emperor Qin Shihuangdi's army of terracotta warriors is currently on show at the British Museum - the first time the figures have ever been displayed outside China.

Originally created in 221 BC, Emperor Qin's tomb, which houses the warriors, was only discovered in 1974. So far archaeologists have excavated less than one per cent of the burial area, which is believed to be the size of Cambridge.

The exhibition also tells the tale of how China's first emperor unified the country and effectively created the Chinese state as we know it today.

The First Emperor: China's Terracotta Army runs from September 13th to April 6th.
