What's on guide
The Animals War, Imperial War Museum North, Manchester
The contribution of animals to Britain's war campaigns is celebrated in a new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum North.
The Animals War includes film, memorabilia, and hands-on interactive experiences to explore the under acknowledged role of our furry friends in the UK's conflicts.
Among the animals featured in the exhibition are Winkie, a pigeon in the mould of the heroic birds from the movie Valiant, who saved the lives of a ditched aircrew in 1942, and Roselle the Labrador, who led her blind owner to safety from the World Trade Centre on September 11th.
The Imperial War Museum North this year celebrates its fifth anniversary, in which time it has received over 20 awards for its displays.
Entry to the exhibit, which runs until January 2008, is free.
Address: Trafford Wharf Road, The Quays, Manchester, M17 1TZ.
