Pops in the Park, Crystal Palace Bowl

The Crystal Palace Bowl will reverberate to the sound of imaginary cannon fire this weekend, as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture - the composer's musical account of Napoleon's retreat from Russia.

Also set to feature a host of the Russian maestro's most popular pieces, the Tchaikovsky Spectacular forms part of the Pops in the Park series of outdoor concerts.

Next week will see the orchestra play the music of James Bond, while the following week's Last of the Summer Proms show is packed with flag-waving favourites culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

Tickets for the grassed picnic area are priced £19.50 and at £25 for the exclusive deckchair area.

All shows start at 19:30 BST
