Poole Regatta, Poole, Nr. Bournemouth
The biennial Poole Regatta returns to the seaside town in May for three days of fun filled boating action.
Held at Poole Harbour, which has held a quay since 150-250 BC, the regatta was first organised to celebrate the coming of the new millennium, with the success of the event encouraging its return in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
This year's event looks to be as popular as ever, with financial support from International Paints providing an additional boost to the rostrum of events.
Opening on May 24th, the first event of the regatta will be a series of up to 4 back to back races, depending on the class of the boats, with the first race starting at 11:00. Races will then be held for the following two days, with an awards ceremony held at the Royal Motor Yacht Club on Monday May 26th at 16:00.
The organisers note that there are a wide range of restaurants to keep visitors to Poole well fuelled, with a list of recommended eateries available on the regatta website.
National Express offers a convenient way to travel to events up and down the country, with regular services to and from neighbouring Bournemouth.
