Noughts and Crosses, Lighthouse Poole Centre for the Arts, Poole
Noughts and Crosses is a dramatic and thought-provoking production of Malorie Blackman's popular book of the same name.
The story has been hailed as a modern day rendition of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, with Ms Blackman stating that the similarities seemed to grow organically as she wrote the acclaimed novel.
It tells the tale of Sephy, daughter of the Prime Minister and leader of the political party the Crosses. She falls for a boy named Callum, whom is soon revealed as the son of revolutionary rebel Nought.
What unfurls is an incisive take on a world of injustice, racism and hate. Other-worldly and yet hauntingly true-to-life, Noughts and Crosses should feature powerful performances from the central cast, with acclaimed director Dominic Cooke at the helm.
The play runs from March 4th to 8th at the Lighthouse Poole Centre for the Arts, with ticket prices to be announced.
A frequent National Express service operates to and from neighbouring Bournemouth.
National Express allows theatre-goers to watch top-flight performances across the country, including a number of destinations in the south of England.
