What's on guide
Lowry Favourites, Lowry Gallery, Manchester
A number of lesser known pictures by archetypal Mancunian artist LS Lowry join his some of best known and much-loved works for the Lowry Favourites exhibition.
Taking place at the Lowry Galleries, the exhibition space owners have secured works on loan from other galleries worldwide, which can be viewed alongside more familiar pieces such as Going to the Match and A Street Scene.
Lowry's pictures typically depict urban landscapes in and around Manchester in the early 20th century, which were populated by many figures drawn as matchstick men.
The Lowry Gallery, which transferred from its original home at Salford Art Gallery in 2000, currently holds around 350 paintings and drawings by the Pendlebury-born artist which are shown in rotating exhibitions.
Also currently showing at the Lowry is a exhibition of Ian Skoyles' works, which take the form of jigsaws and combine pieces from different puzzles.
Address: The Lowry, Pier Eight, Salford Quays, Salford, M50 3AZ.
