What's on guide
Joan Eardley, National Gallery Complex, Edinburgh
The first major exhibition of the artist Joan Eardley's work in 20 years is currently on show at Edinburgh's National Gallery Complex.
The show charts Eardley's progress from her pastel sketches to her iconic pictures of children playing in Glasgow's run-down tenements in the immediate pre and post-war period - through to her later depictions of majestic seascapes to be seen around the fishing village of Catterline.
Although her career was cut short by cancer in 1963, her oeuvre is one of the most celebrated in Scottish art.
The exhibit runs until January 13th 2008.
Address: National Gallery Complex, Belford Rd, Edinburgh, EH4 3DR.
Other exhibitions at the National Gallery include a retrospective of the work of industrial revolution-era engineer Thomas Telford and Back to the Future - a look at the work of the architect Basil Spence.
