Industry to Impressionism: what two sisters did for Wales, National Museum Wales, Cardiff

The story of the Davies sisters and their remarkable contribution to the cultural life of Wales forms the focus of an exhibition currently showing at the National Museum of Wales.

Gwendoline and Margaret Davies were two unmarried sisters who donated over 250 works to the museum, including Renoir's famous Blue Lady, Monet's Waterlillies and Rodin's The Kiss, and are now regarded as pioneers in the arts.

They were also involved in serving in Red Cross canteens in France during the First World War and also established the local newspaper the Gregynog Press at their home in Mid-Wales.

The exhibition runs daily until January 6th, 2008 .

Address: National Museum Wales, Cathays Park, Cardiff, CF10 3NP.
