Duffy, the Glee Club, Birmingham

Sensational new singer-songwriter Duffy heads to Birmingham's Glee Club to promote her soon to be released debut album Rockferry.

The 23¬-year-old Welsh singer has enjoyed a triumphant rise to fame in the years since her unique talent was spotted by manager Jeannette Lee.

Hailed as the sound of 2008 by the Times, Duffy has also recently come second in a BBC poll in which industry experts were asked to pick their top performers for the year.

She has won many fans with her sultry, timeless sound suggesting experience beyond her age.

As with many new artists she has been compared to a number of famous predecessors, with artists like Dusty Springfield and Dolly Parton receiving particular mention, but Duffy seems to have the talent to live up to these high expectations.

Duffy plays the Glee Club in Birmingham on March 11th.
