What's on guide
Don McLean, Bridgewater Hall, Manchester
Don McLean, New York's writer and singer of hits such as Vincent and American Pie, is heading to Manchester this autumn for a headline show at the impressive Bridgewater Hall.
As part of his world tour in support of his upcoming album - Addicted to Black - McLean will take in the Bridgewater on October 9th 2007.
In addition to American Pie, McLean can lean on a full career of hit tracks over the evening, including Everyday and Mountains of Mourne in the early 1970s through to Can't Blame the Train in 1987.
McLean was inaugurated into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2004, while he was the subject of Roberta Flack's massive hit record "Killing Me Softly With His Song", which shot to the top of the charts in 1973 and again 26 years later when covered by The Fugees.
The track lent its name to a recently-published Alan Howard biography of the singer-songwriter, The Don McLean Story: Killing Us Softly With His Songs.
Address: Bridgewater Hall, Lower Mosley St, Manchester, M2 3WS
