Dad's Army - the Lost Episodes, Poole
The iconic British sitcom sees a triumphant return in a theatre production of the famous lost episodes.
Three episodes from the second series of Dad's Army - which ran for nine years between 1968 and 1977 - went missing after the BBC mislaid the original tapes.
Recreating the antics of a few members of the Home Guard during the second world war, the comedy series won legions of fans for a comedic style that epitomised everything that the British sense of humour is famous for.
The Home Guard was set up by Anthony Eden in 1940 and was composed of men over and below the age of active service.
The recruitment drive was overwhelmingly successful and the Dad's Army website asserts that the Home Guard was responsible for bringing the war into the hearts and homes of the nation.
Director James Robert Carsen brings the famous characters back to the stage in a new rendition of two of the missing episodes, with well-known actors Leslie Grantham, Timothy Kightley and Richard Tate putting in performances.
It opens at the Lighthouse Poole Centre for the Arts on March 10th and plays for six nights.
National Express operates a frequent coach service to neighbouring Bournemouth, as well as a number of other top UK destinations.
