Buzzcocks, The Ritz, Manchester

Hometown heroes the Buzzcocks will be playing Manchester this month, as part of a nationwide tour.

Although perhaps best-known these days for providing the punning title of the TV show Never Mind the Buzzcocks, among fans of late-1970s/early-1980s rock, the romantic punk poppers are nothing short of legends.

Before founding member Howard Devoto left to form the post-punk outfit Magazine, the band scored hits with the singles Ever Fallen in Love with Someone, What Do I Get and the uncompromising examination of human sexuality Orgasm Addict.

Further live music events set to take place in Manchester over November and December include appearances from sharp-suited Motown combos the Four Tops and the Temptations - who will be appearing as a double-bill -, freak-folk favourite Patrick Wolf and garage punks The Hives.
